Wells Fargo Supports Hospice Care as Diamond Sponsor of Pathways Hospice Awards Breakfast

Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) November 05, 2013

Wells Fargo, headquartered in San Francisco, continued its support for hospice care in the San Francisco Bay Area by sponsoring Pathways Hospice’s 23rd Annual One from the Heart Awards Breakfast at the Diamond level. This popular fundraising event was held October 10, 2013 and attracted over 600 community leaders, medical professionals, and philanthropists who support local hospice care.

"With the support of donors and sponsors like Wells Fargo, we are able to continue caring for patients and families who are facing the end of life and serious illness," said Sandra Coolidge, Pathway’s Vice President of Admissions, Community Relations, & Philanthropy. "We are extremely grateful for Wells Fargo’s sponsorship of the breakfast and their continued support."

Featured speakers for the 23nd Annual One from the Heart Awards Breakfast were Tony Mendez and his wife Jonna Mendez. Tony is the author of Argo: How the CIA and Hollywood Pulled Off the Most Audacious Rescue in History, which was the inspiration for the feature film directed by and starring Ben Affleck as Tony. Jonna and Tony shared details of how Tony, Chief of Disguise at the CIA, engineered and conducted an operation to rescue six American diplomats from Iran during the hostage crisis.

Another highlight of the breakfast was the presentation of the One from the Heart Award to Pathways volunteer, Vilma Buck. Vilma Buck is a lead vigil volunteer, and she was recognized for her decades of service to hospice patients and their families. A caring person of infinite patience, she sits at the bedside of dying patients if they have no family present or if the family needs support. A loving presence in the room, she provides a gentle voice and calm spirit for patients in their final days and hours.

The 24th Annual One from the Heart Awards Breakfast will be held next year in October 2014, and the featured speaker will be New Yorker cartoonist Roz Chast. For more information, call (408) 730-1200 or email events(at)pathwayshealth(dot)org.
