WellPoint Announces Appointment of Andrew J. Lang as Senior Vice President of Application Development

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- WellPoint, Inc. (NYSE: WLP) today announced the appointment of Andrew J. (A.J.) Lang as senior vice president of Application Development. In this role, he will be responsible for the development and support of all of WellPoint's systems.

"A.J. adds a highly successful information technology veteran with more than 25 years of technical and leadership experience in health care, banking and credit card processing industries to our IT leadership team," said Lori Beer, executive vice president and chief information officer. "I look forward to working with A.J. to increase the speed and quality of the services we deliver to our more than 35 million members."

Prior to his appointment, Lang was vice president of Information Technology Services at Cargill, responsible for leading a core global infrastructure and enterprise services organization. Before Cargill, Lang was department head, Systems Architecture and Application Development, at Aetna and an executive vice president of Information, Delivery and Payment Systems at U.S. Bancorp. Lang also held senior positions at Visa International and IBM.

Throughout his career, Lang has been recognized for his track record in driving technical, cultural and operational transformation and the on-time delivery of mission critical business programs. He has wide-ranging expertise leading enterprise architecture, applications design and development, data center, network, engineering and testing organizations.

Lang earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University.
