Wed., Sept. 16, 11 AM News Conference: Sioux Falls' Keystone Treatment Center Is National HQ to Lead 100 Locations Nationwide in Balloon Liftoff Celebrating Recovery Against New Wave of Drug Abuse; Former U.S. Drug Czar/4-Star Gen. Barry McCaffrey, Lieute
Date:9/9/2009

Gen. McCaffrey stated, "The national and state treatment gaps remain a huge challenge. 23.9 million Americans need but do not receive treatment for illicit drug or alcohol problems according to the latest numbers from HHS. Less than four million receive treatment. In South Dakota, 72,000 people need but do not receive treatment."

Dr. Karlin said, "Keystone did such a wonderful job last year locally in organizing "recovery" events that we have selected them to be the national headquarters for this year's celebration. Both the Sioux Falls and Canton facilities are national models pointing the way to recovery." He added, "The balloon release signifies that we celebrate, honor and remember the patients, families and staff who have gone through treatment, and carry hope for those still suffering from the disease."
