Slumber Sage will contain unbiased reviews of mattress brands and provide clear and helpful information on buying a mattress, a process normally infamous for its ambiguity and confusion.
Inspired by the success of Warby Parker in the eyewear industry, multiple companies have recently launched online-only business models selling mattresses. Saatva, Casper, and Tuft & Needle all have launched with this business model and have seen great recent success selling mattresses online. While most people don’t normally associate mattresses and e-Commerce together, these companies have developed fairly attractive selling points.
For one, the business model cuts out the middleman in the supply chain and provides a significant level of savings on costs associated with running a physical retail store (rent, utilities, etc.). As such, these companies charge significantly less than comparable mattresses seen at retail stores. These companies also provide very friendly return policies, normally allowing free returns after 30-60 days of trying a mattress out.
As companies shift to selling more mattresses online, there is increasing demand for unbiased information and reviews on these brands. Currently there are not a lot of options for consumers to turn to and find clear and unbiased information and reviews of mattress brands. “Many companies provide customer testimonials of their products, but we’ve seen that those reviews can be cherry-picked and tend to be biased. We feel there is a real need in the market for unbiased information and reviews, and that is why we launched our site,” says Kenny Kline, founder of Slumber Sage.
Kline launched Slumber Sage in order to demystify the mattress industry and to provide unbiased reviews and information. According to Kline, the site aims to be a one-stop resource for anyone looking to buy a mattress and sleep better in general.
