Waters and LabVantage Partnership Targets Laboratory Informatics Integration to Maximize Data Management and Quality of Work

Early Results Show Customers Already Breaking down Silos and Benefiting from Paperless Lab

MILFORD, Mass. and BRIDGEWATER, N.J., March 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT) and LabVantage Solutions, Inc. today jointly announced a strategic partnership to integrate laboratory software for improved efficiency and effectiveness at laboratory dependent organizations. Collaborating with existing common customers, Waters(R) and LabVantage(R) have already successfully integrated LabVantage's SAPPHIRE(TM) Laboratory Information Management Suite (LIMS) with Waters NuGenesis(R) Scientific Data Management System (SDMS(TM)) and Empower(R) 2 chromatography data software (CDS) solutions.

Early results of the relationship have already seen a global pharmaceutical manufacturing organization simplify its laboratory data platforms from 31 site-specific systems to a single integrated, enterprise configuration comprising only two vendor's solutions worldwide: Waters and LabVantage. The intended long-term impact is to eliminate infrastructure silos, harmonize global variations, and maximize scientific data and experience within the organization to increase overall quality of work.

Another pharmaceutical company completely transformed its lab notebooks and lab-based information management processes to an electronic system by closely integrating NuGenesis SDMS and SAPPHIRE LIMS. This combined solution provides automation and workflow integration that paper systems simply can't provide. This company is now realizing all of the benefits of going paperless, such as reducing costs associated with managing labor and paper forms, and ensuring the quality and consistency of results with improved access to data.

"Customers are seeking to decrease laboratory turnaround time, lower costs of laboratory operations, and reduce errors and non-compliance events throughout their company," says Ron Kasner, Vice President of Corporate Development for LabVantage. "By integrating SAPPHIRE with Waters NuGenesis SDMS and Empower 2 solutions, we have better enabled our customers to eliminate manual transcription errors, remove redundant activities, and scale laboratory operations."

"Waters core informatics strategy promotes openness and interoperability, a philosophy that aligns perfectively with our growing strategic partnership program," said Phil Kilby, Senior Manager, Informatics Business and Partner Development for Waters Division. "So while we are excited about announcing our relationship with LabVantage, we realize that the focus is on the customer. Our goal is to improve information management and laboratory connectivity, so organizations can more easily and quickly turn scientific data into value-added business decisions."
