SAN DIEGO, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Waste Management of San Diego was named a 2009 Clean Air Circle Honoree by the American Lung Association on April 18, 2009, at their annual Evening in the Sky Gala. Waste Management was recognized for their commitment to keeping San Diego's air clean and ongoing efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainability.

Waste Management of San Diego is keeping the air clean by using low-emission, liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered trash and recycling trucks. In San Diego, the company operates the second largest fleet of LNG powered trucks in the nation. The reduced emissions from this fleet of 125 LNG-powered trucks are the equivalent of removing 9,200 cars from San Diego's highways.
