"Both the special operations community and the Gridiron Greats share a
bond of brotherhood like no other," said Ditka, board member of the GGAF.
"It is with this strong sense of spirit that retired professional football
players and special operations vow to take care of their own and have
formed this very special relationship".
"Even in these troubled times and in spite of many of the Gridiron
Greats having their own dire needs, these players are reaching out to
support their own but also the SOWF. We are confident that a significant
amount of funds and awareness will be raised for both organizations," said
Jennifer Smith, executive director, Gridiron Greats.
"The actions of the Gridiron Greats speaks volumes about their
character -- these football players are heroes to the children of our
fallen warriors by ensuring they receive the college education their
parents would have wanted for them," said Carney, Jr. "We hope that through
awareness generated through the Gridiron Greats and the Special Operations
Warrior Foundation that they will no longer be forgotten."
All of the aforementioned events are open to the public and tickets are
on sale and an online donation drive is underway for now at
