HAMILTON, Bermuda, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Warner Chilcott Limited (Nasdaq: WCRX) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Dong-A PharmTech Co. Ltd., based in Korea, to develop and market their orally-administered udenafil product, a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in the United States. Dong-A has successfully completed Phase 2 studies of the product in the United States.
Under the terms of the agreement, Warner Chilcott has exclusive U.S. rights to develop and market the product for the treatment of ED. Dong-A will receive an initial, up-front payment and may also be eligible to receive additional payments upon achievement of certain milestones.
The product was approved by the Korean Food and Drug Administration in December of 2005 for the treatment of ED in Korea under the brand name Zydena. The product was also approved in Russia in July of 2008.
