Vivacare Expands Patient Education Service to Pediatricians
Date:7/28/2009

Pediatricians can now create their own patient education Website at no cost and provide their patients with access to trusted health information online.

Berkeley, Calif. (PRWEB) July 28, 2009 -- Vivacare has expanded its free service to leading pediatricians due to its success providing other medical specialties with Web-based patient education tools that improve clinical care and save time and money,

The child health education program is part of the From Your Doctor service from Vivacare. The From Your Doctor service enables physicians to easily create their own customizable health information resource at no cost. The service includes a Patient Education Library that helps physicians reinforce key clinical messages and direct their patients to reliable resources, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

By enrolling for a Vivacare account, pediatricians receive a practice-branded Patient Education Library loaded with several hundred patient handouts covering a wide variety of child health issues, including ADHD, asthma, eczema, otitis media (ear infections) and vaccinations. Pediatricians can further customize the handouts to reflect their unique approach to care. Pediatricians that already have a practice Website can supplement it with their new Patient Education Library from Vivacare.

"I really value Vivacare because once my patients are diagnosed and prescribed a treatment plan, Vivacare provides the up-to-date educational information they can access at their own convenience. I need these tools to educate my patients without creating a burden to myself or to my staff. Vivacare delivers that." Says Dr. Helen M. Torok, M.D.

Educating patients in a timely manner is a tremendous challenge for most practices. 81% of physicians report difficulty in providing appropriate paper-based patient handouts to their patients during office visits. Moreover, over 8 million Americans seek health information online everyday, causing doctors to spend valuable time responding their patient's Internet searches. Vivacare helps physicians to provide their patients with convenient access to trusted educational resource that they control.

"Vivacare enables patients to begin their online search for health information at their own doctor's Website", said Dr. Mark Becker, pediatrician and President of Vivacare. We encourage patients to learn as much as they can about their condition and treatment plan-- but we want to help them gain a firm grasp of their own doctor's recommendations before they go online and risk becoming confused by conflicting opinions from anonymous sources."
