Vital Images Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary
Date:11/19/2008

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Vital Images, Inc. (Nasdaq: VTAL), a leading provider of advanced visualization and analysis solutions, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its pioneering work in developing advanced visualization and analysis software. Vital Images was established in September 1988 in Fairfield, Iowa and has continually advanced the field of advanced visualization through 20 years of bringing innovative solutions to the market.

"I have been a Vital Images customer for nearly 15 years," said J. Pablo Villablanca, MD, professor and chief of diagnostic neuroradiology and director, clinical image processing laboratory for UCLA. "We use the ViTAL solution for both routine and delicate clinical problems. Over our many years together, we have collaborated on innovative clinical applications and forged a dynamic clinical and research partnership."

The company was founded in 1988. Since that time, the company has installed more than 5,000 systems worldwide. Also during those 20 years, ViTAL played a key role in developing a market for advanced visualization, exponentially grown revenues, publicly traded on NASDAQ, and established its geographic presence in Asia and Europe.

"ViTAL's bold vision was to bring advanced visualization to the daily diagnostic process by making medical 3D imaging fast and easy to use," said Michael H. Carrel, president and chief executive officer for Vital Images. "Today, Vital Images is taking advanced visualization beyond 3D imaging and into 4D with functional imaging and analysis. We're extending our solutions to impact decisions in cardiology, oncology, surgery and orthopedics. Furthermore, our solutions continue to become more pervasive by providing communication and treatment planning tools which span the entire medical enterprise. This evolution has made our consistently fast and easy-to-use solution a necessity for an entirely new set of ViTAL users."

"Our team selected the ViTAL solution a couple years ago based primarily on our positive experience with the company and their differentiated solution," said Ron Gilbert, PACS administrator for Atlanta Medical Center. "Vital Images has the right vision to take our enterprise needs to the next level."
