Date:3/18/2008

Call for entries at http://www.beyondthebige.com starts today

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- VisionFirst, Birmingham's leader in total eye care, announced today that they will invite the public to select one lucky winner to be the star of a reality Webisode series titled "Beyond the Big E" and receive free LASIK surgery.

The contest is to celebrate the grand opening of VisionFirst's new state- of-the-art LASIK and refractive surgery practice, Lakeshore Laser of VisionFirst. Located just south of Greensprings Drive on Lakeshore Parkway in Homewood, the facility is equipped with the newest laser from AMO and will offer the iLASIK customization system. This location will serve as the flagship office for the VisionFirst brand, which has well-established practices in Trussville and Alabaster.

Sarah J. Hays, MD, one of the top refractive surgeons in the Southeast was selected to join the VisionFirst team and will serve as the primary physician at Lakeshore Laser of VisionFirst. "I have preformed more than 20,000 refractive surgeries, but it still thrills me to restore a patient's sight," said Hays. "This contest is a great opportunity to receive this life-changing surgery for free. I can't wait to see who Birmingham selects!"

"Nominating yourself for free LASIK is easy," said Hays. Contestants will go to http://www.beyondthebige.com and submit a video-one minute or less in length-showing why they need the surgery. The videos will be uploaded to the Web site within 24 hours. Friends, family and the public can then click to view videos and vote for their favorite one time each day.

The top 10 contestants will be announced at Lakeshore Laser of VisionFirst's grand opening on April 18. Then voting resumes until the grand prizewinner is announced May 1. "That's when the fun really begins," said Hays. "A camer
