Both Winners to Run ING New York City Marathon 2007 and be Recognized for
Courage and Perseverance by New York Road Runners and Avis
NEW YORK, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- New York Road Runners and Avis Rent A Car System, LLC, announced today that Vincent Corso and Daniel Trush have won the fourth-annual Avis "We Try Harder" award in conjunction with the ING New York City Marathon 2007. The award celebrates people who endeavor to overcome considerable obstacles through courage and extraordinary effort. A panel that included representatives from Avis, Achilles Track Club and New York Road Runners selected the two winners from among hundreds of ING New York City Marathon participants nominated by friends and family.
Vincent Corso, Westfield, N.J.
Corso will be participating in his first ING New York City Marathon this year. Corso weighed 305 pounds in 2005 when the Westfield, N.J. native decided to change his life by joining a weight loss program. Soon after, his wife gave him a membership to New York Road Runners, a gesture that he refers to as "the best gift [he's] ever received." Now Corso -- or "Skinny Vinny" as some have taken to calling him -- is a passionate runner. After completing a half-marathon earlier this year, Corso is set for the biggest challenge of his life. Only two years after weighing more than 300 pounds, this accountant will be lined up with 38,000 runners at the start of the ING New York City Marathon 2007.
Daniel Trush, New York, N.Y.
As a 12-year-old, Daniel Trush's life was filled with movement. From
music to athletics, Trush was never standing still. However, while playing
basketball with his family one day, Trush came running off the court with
his head in his hands. What his father thought was disappointment from
missing a shot turned out to be a brain aneur
