"In recent years, [the most significant new development] in analytical chemistry has been the development of UltraPerformance Liquid Chromatography, which was pioneered by Waters," said, Prof. Jeremy Nicholson, Chair Biological Chemistry, Imperial College, London. "When you couple that to a time-of-flight mass spectrometer you have an incredibly powerful tool capable of measuring hundreds or thousands of molecules at the same time, in one sample in one analytical run."

Additional examples of UPLC impact include:

  • To date, there have been more than 400 peer-reviewed papers published using ACQUITY UPLC, with another 300 application notes available in Waters on-line library.
  • Through its recent introduction of Phase II ACQUITY UPLC Columns, Waters family of ACQUITY UPLC columns now includes three UPLC particle substrates, eleven bonded phases in over one hundred UPLC column configurations, and VanGuard(TM) Pre-Columns.
  • Lastly, thousands of scientists participate in a vibrant on-line community exclusively for UPLC users.

Waters ACQUITY UPLC System received a Gold Pittcon Editors Award for a new product at the 2004 Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy, the industry's premier conference and exhibition.
