PORTLAND, Maine, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- A case of mistaken identity sent Donald Verger to jail over a period of three days at the start of the New Year. Even before the charges were dismissed, Verger was compelled to turn his experience into something positive.

"We are deeply grateful to Mr. Verger for using his considerable talents to help the Innocence Project," said Audrey Levitin, Director of Development, the Innocence Project. "His photography show and fundraiser will raise awareness about the tragedy of wrongful convictions. The proceeds from the event will enable us to free the innocent and bring urgently needed reforms to the United States criminal justice system."

Who:

Internationally applauded photographer, naturalist and philanthropist Donald Verger to hold "Images for Innocence" exhibit, with 100% of proceeds going to the nonprofit www.innocenceproject.org. Verger is Founder and President Emeritus of The Children's Discovery Museum and The Science Discovery Museum in Acton, MA.

What:

A breathtaking tapestry of images depicting the peacefulness found in New England landscapes will be on display in Portland's North Star Music Cafe. This exhibit provides a rare opportunity for the public to secure a personally autographed "Donald Verger" photograph via a tax-deductible donation to the Innocence Project. The exhibit includes an exclusive laptop slideshow preview of some of the radiant images in Verger's personal collection of 150,000 never-before-seen photos. www.donaldverger.com
