The legendary King of Ranchero Music, Vicente "Chente" Fernandez, is all set to do the last leg of his Mi Despidida World Tour with a three-day performance at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal City Walk, Universal City in Los Angeles, California from April 26, 2013, Friday to April 28, 2013, Sunday.
After 40-plus years of performing at sold out arenas, the 73-year old iconic Mexican singer decided to cap off his long and thriving performing career with a farewell concert series aptly titled Mi Despedida World Tour. Under his belt are several accolades including seven Latin Grammy awards, one Grammy award, Latin Recording Academy's Person of the Year award, dozens of Mexican films, and over 50 million album copies sold worldwide allowing him the prestige of being given a star with his name on it in Hollywood's Walk of Fame
Although permanently breaking free from the concert scene, Fernandez is said to have recorded over 300 more songs which will enable a release of at least 30 more albums even after his retirement.
The concert tour officially kicked off on June 14, 2012 with a show in Murcia, Spain and has reached South, Central, North America, and Europe. While it was initially Chente's wish to do his final curtain call at La Plaza De Toros in Mexico City on February 17th, his birthday, it was decided that California will be where he will officially do his swan song. However, due to a recent medical surgery, the US concert almost didn't happen to the disappointment of his many adoring fans.
