San Jose CA (PRWEB) July 16, 2008 -- Vertos Medical Inc, a privately held medical device manufacturer focusing on minimally invasive treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS), announced presentation of its clinical results of its proprietary Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression, MILD™, procedure. The MILD procedure, is a simple, percutaneous, fluoroscopically guided treatment for central canal Lumbar Spinal Stenosis,(LSS). MILD can be performed under local anesthesia and substantially reduces the tissue damage and tissue removal associated with other minimally invasive or open surgeries. LSS is diagnosed in 1.5 million Americans each year. Vertos has obtained FDA clearance for sale of the MILD devices in the USA.

Clinical results on 32 patients with moderate to severe LSS have shown that all patients were discharged either the same day or the day following the MILD™ procedure. These patients were treated at 11 medical centers of excellence. No complications or adverse events were reported.

Clinical results included a 90% decrease in pain as measured by the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), as well as improved mobility, represented by a decrease in the Oswestry Disability Index
