Date:7/31/2008

Third Brigade best-of-breed security deployment helps protect Verispan's HIPAA-compliant, de-identified, patient-centric market research data used by top 50 pharmaceutical companies

Reston, VA and Ottawa, ON (PRWEB) July 31, 2008 -- http://www.thirdbrigade.com [Third Brigade], a security software company specializing in host intrusion defense, today announced that http://www.verispan.com/ [Verispan], the nation's leading provider of HIPAA-compliant, de-identified, patient-centric prescription data, has implemented the Third Brigade host intrusion detection and prevention system (http://www.thirdbrigade.com/product.aspx?id=48 [IDS/IPS]). The system adds another level of security to Verispan's comprehensive, defense-in-depth security initiatives.

An ongoing awareness of increased online threats led Verispan to test, purchase and deploy Third Brigade Deep Security. "Third Brigade adds further layers of protection to our Network Security posture that helps us continue to meet and exceed our clients' security requirements," said Erik Sciortino, Associate Director of Network Operations for Verispan.

Mr. Sciortino highlighted performance, manageability and easy integration into Verispan's existing security environment as key advantages of the Third Brigade host intrusion detection and prevention system. Verispan uses Third Brigade's management tools, recommendation scanning and automatic update capabilities to maintain optimum protection for Verispan servers.

"Verispan is yet another example of a leading service organization recognizing the value of Third Brigade host intrusion defense for their defense-in-depth strategy," said Wael Mohamed, President and CEO, Third Brigade.
