Valley Riding Will Host Horse Festival in the Cleveland Metroparks on Sunday, August 23 from 11 AM to 4 PM

CLEVELAND, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Valley Riding, Inc. will host their annual Horse Festival to benefit their therapeutic horseback riding program on August 23. Valley Riding provides horseback riding instruction to physically and mentally challenged children and adults as well as able-bodied riders at their stables in the Cleveland Metroparks

The event will include many family friendly activities. Pony rides are available for children for a nominal fee. Visitors can also enjoy stable tours, festival games, refreshments and horseback riding demonstrations. The exhibition will feature educational horse activities such as jumping and a showcase by the pony quadrille team performing precision movements to music.

General admission is free although donations are encouraged. On-site parking is available for $5.00. Proceeds from the event will go toward the organization's accredited therapeutic riding program, which is designed for children and adults with physical, cognitive, emotional and social disabilities.

The event will be held Sunday, August 23 from 11 AM to 4 PM ET at the Rocky River Stables in the Cleveland Metroparks: 19901 Puritas Ave. Cleveland, Ohio 44135.

Therapeutic Riding Lessons are offered at both the Rocky River and Brecksville locations in the Cleveland Metroparks. More than just sitting on a horse, therapeutic instruction aids eye/hand coordination, spatial relations and an understanding of direction. The horses lend their strength and abilities to the rider and their movement and shape helps tight, spastic muscles to relax while also benefiting posture and balance. Students gain a sense of achievement, self respect and satisfaction while growing socially and emotionally through the attainment of horseback riding skills. The program is accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA), with certified instructors and a physical therapist consultant on staff.

Valley Riding, Inc. is a 501(c )3 nonprofit affiliate of the Cleveland Metroparks, serving horse enthusiasts from locations in the Rocky River and Brecksville reservations. In addition to its therapeutic riding program, the organization offers boarding, able-bodied riding lessons for children and adults, pony camp, educational tours and more. For more information or to volunteer call the stables at 216-267-2525, email or visit
