TrekDesk Inventor Showcasing Innovative Health Product in Scottsdale

(Vocus) December 4, 2009 -- A valley inventor garnering national attention with an invention proven to help individuals lose weight, prevent disease, restore health, improve mood and boost productivity will be showcasing the product at Saturday’s Technology Fair located at the Civic Center Gallery.

TrekDesk has been featured on major television networks across the country and the focus of an upcoming National Public Radio MarketPlace edition but this will be the first time it has been shown publicly in Arizona.

Why all the attention? TrekDesk is a full sized height adjustable workstation that attaches to existing treadmills allowing individuals to do something they no longer have time for in their busy lives: walk.

“It sounds foreign to people at first but once they understand the health risks of their sedentary lifestyle sitting in chairs all day, they quickly become converts,” states Steve Bordley, CEO of TrekDesk.com. “This has hit a global chord, we are selling TrekDesks internationally and shipping worldwide although only we only started selling online at http://www.trekdesk.com two months ago.”

TrekDesk retails for $479 roughly 1/3 the average monthly cost of a health insurance premium and ships free from the TrekDesk website or may be purchased in Scottsdale at The Fitness Depot (7000 East Shea Boulevard).

TrekDesk will be featured Saturday with the Star Trac 8921 model treadmill from Fitness Depot.
Two thirds of the adult American population is overweight and 50% of that number is obese according to the Centers for Disease Control, by 2018 it is expected that the obesity rate in America will hit 43% costing our nation $343 Billion annually yet just a generation ago Americans did not have a problem with weight.

What happened?

“Surprisingly, Americans only consume 100 calories a day more than during the 60’s, however due to the sedentary nature of employment, long commutes and sedentary nature of home recreation (eg 500 cable channels) we now burn 600-700 calories less per day. That equates to more than a pound of potential weight gain per work week,” noted Bordley.

TrekDesk reverses the trend immediately and allows an individual to burn between 800-1400 calories per day, equating to 1-2 pounds of body fat loss per week.

“Our health is in our hands not the health insurance industry’s,” states Bordley, “ the National Institute of Health states that 84% of all medical claims are the direct result of poor diet, lifestyle and an extreme lack of exercise. TrekDesk can make the exercise easy and automatic without any additional time commitment, that is why it is getting so much attention in the corporate and home office marketplace.”

The Scottsdale Civic Center Gallery Technology Fair runs this Saturday from noon to 5 PM at 3839 Drinkwater Boulevard, Scottsdale, AZ.
