New York, New York (PRWEB) June 02, 2013
Thousands of transvaginal mesh lawsuit claims filed against American Medical Systems, Inc. (“MDL No. 2325”); C.R. Bard, Inc., (“MDL No. 2187”); Ethicon, Inc. (“ MDL No. 2327”); and Boston Scientific Corp. (“MDL No. 2326”) continue to move forward in the federal litigations now underway in U.S. District Court, Southern District of West Virginia, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to a Pretrial Order dated May 29th, the Court recently issued revised Short Form and Amended Short Form Complaints, which must be used by parties filing new cases or amended complaints in the litigations as of June 5th. According to court records, the next joint Status Conference in the federal vaginal mesh litigations has been scheduled for August 1st.
“We are pleased to see these litigations progressing, as we continue to hear from alleged victims of serious vaginal mesh complications following implantation of these devices to treat pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm’s vaginal mesh lawyers are currently representing hundreds of women in state and federal courts who allegedly suffered mesh erosion, pain, scarring, infection and other serious vaginal mesh complications.
Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuits
Bernstein Liebhard LLP partner, Jeffrey S. Grand, serves on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in these four federal pelvic mesh litigations. According to court documents, all of the transvaginal mesh lawsuits pending in these litigations allege the manufacturers were negligent in designing their pelvic mesh products, and failed to warn patients about the risk for serious vaginal mesh complications.
Mr. Grand is also serving as Co-Liaison Counsel for hundreds of C.R. Bard and Ethicon transvaginal mesh lawsuits that have been filed in consolidated litigations underway in New Jersey’s Atlantic County Superior Court. (In re: Pelvic Mesh Litigation/Bard, No. L-6339-10, and In re: Pelvic Mesh/Gynecare Litigation, No. 6341-10) In March, the Ethicon litigation’s first trial concluded with an award of more than $11 million, including punitive damages, to the Plaintiff. Mr. Grand was a member of the Plaintiff’s trial team. (Gross v. Gynecare Inc., Atl-L-6966-10, Superior Court of Atlantic County, New Jersey)
