University HealthSystem Consortium Selected as Greenville Hospital System's Supply Chain Partner

OAK BROOK, Ill., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) today announced that the 5-hospital Greenville Hospital System (GHS), of Greenville, SC, has selected UHC to provide supply chain services. Effective immediately, GHS, one of the largest health systems in the southeast, will transition its supply chain services to UHC from its former group purchasing organization, Premier.

"UHC's proven expertise in meeting the needs of academic medical centers [AMCs] and its broad range of purchasing agreements through Novation, including the AMC portfolio, will provide savings opportunities to GHS and help us achieve our supply chain goals," said John Mateka, GHS executive director of Corporate Materials Management. Novation is UHC's supply contracting company.

GHS will have access to UHC's full range of supply chain resources, which are used by the majority of the nation's AMCs and their affiliated organizations to manage supply costs and improve supply chain efficiencies. UHC supply chain optimization services include:

  • Contracting
  • Informatics
  • Performance management
  • Networking and education

"We are delighted and honored that GHS selected UHC as its supply chain partner," said Jake Groenewold, UHC vice president of Supply Chain. "Working in collaboration with the outstanding GHS team, we will actively support the supply chain initiatives of GHS and ensure that maximum value is quickly delivered to the system," he added.

GHS joined UHC in 2006, and is involved in several UHC performance excellence programs, such as the Value Analysis Program, UHC/AACN Nurse Residency ProgramTM, patient satisfaction measurement, and the Operational Data Base.
