United Way of America Partners with Livingston Communications to Develop Social Media Strategy

Leading Washington-Area Public Relations Firm to Support the LIVE UNITED™ Campaign

Alexandria, V.A. (PRWEB) October 1, 2008 -- Livingston Communications, the Washington area's most experienced independent social media-oriented public relations firm, signed a contract with United Way of America to develop a comprehensive social media strategy for the organization's LIVE UNITED™ campaign. The two entities will develop internal and external online engagement efforts for the national LIVE UNITED™ campaign and a social media framework for the United Way system.

"Now that LIVE UNITED™ has been launched, we're ready to expand our efforts with the influential social web," said Melvin Young, VP of Marketing and Brand Strategy for United Way of America. "Our aim is two-fold, really. We're building a national LIVE UNITED movement to engage and build relationships with socially connected donors, advocates and volunteers. In addition, we're striving to ensure that the network of local United Ways can effectively leverage social media from a common ground."

LIVE UNITED™ is designed to inspire individuals across the country to help advance the common good through giving, advocating and volunteering in the areas of education, income and health.

"We're proud to collaborate with United Way, a long-term agent of social change in this country. It's a great honor to work with the nation's largest charity to help meet LIVE UNITED™ goals," said Geoff Livingston, Founder and CEO of Livingston Communications. "Their mission is inline with our mission of using social technologies to inspire societal change for the common good."

"The nonprofit and social cause landscape is greatly impacted by social media, far beyond Facebook and blogs," added Qui Diaz, Director of Strategy at Livingston. "United Way is poised to be a leader in this respect. Ultimately we want to offer a best-in-class case study for other nonprofits who are trying to use new digital tools."
