Community Outreach Efforts Will Help Children
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- National dental insurer, United Concordia and the Texas Oral Health Coalition have joined forces to help children by offering services at a free dental clinic on Friday, May 15. The clinic is for students in kindergarten through third grade in the Pittsburg Independent School District in Pittsburg, Texas. Several area dentists will be on hand to provide the care, with more than 600 children expected to be served on Friday.
"From a school district's perspective, studies have shown that children in pain can't concentrate and have trouble with school. A lot of this pain is dental pain. Better grades and fewer discipline problems can result with better oral health," said Rex Law, DDS, a volunteer dentist and Chair of the Texas Oral Health Coalition.
"In 2009 United Concordia has provided more than $100,000 in free dental care to the underserved in the first quarter of the year. A number of other clinics are planned throughout the United States, including several more in Texas," said Harlon L. Robinson, United Concordia vice president of Human Resources and Administration and Corporate Diversity Chairman.
