New Online Characters Help Make Dental Health Fun

HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- National dental insurer United Concordia, a Highmark company, celebrates February as Children's Dental Health Month by encouraging children to visit the new Becky Brush and Matty Molar section on the company's Web site.

"Dental health education is crucial in helping children learn how to take care of their teeth and gums properly -- knowledge that can benefit them for a lifetime," said Dr. Richard P. Klich, United Concordia's National Dental director. "Becky Brush and Matty Molar help make dental health education fun for children of all ages, whether a child still has baby teeth or already has a number of permanent ones."

Interactive online games, puzzles, coloring pages and a calendar are all available on the new pages to entertain while educating children on the importance of brushing and flossing regularly, healthy foods to eat, dental terminology, and more.

The new kids' section is just one way that United Concordia is reaching out to communities across the country. The company also sponsors oral health clinics throughout the year to screen and treat dental problems for the underserved community.

"Education and proper dental hygiene are necessary to maintain good oral health, but receiving preventive care from a dentist is critically important," said Dr. Klich.
