Unisys Selects Edifecs Healthcare Accelerator Suite(TM) for MMIS System
Date:9/15/2008

BELLEVUE, Wash., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Edifecs, the leader in B2B solutions for transaction interoperability, today announced that Unisys has selected the Edifecs Healthcare Accelerator Suite to automate data validation for health care transactions in both real-time and batch modes within the product and development areas of the Unisys Healthcare Payer Administrative Solution (Health PAS).

Sunny Singh, Edifecs' CEO said: "In response to Medicaid reform challenges, state Medicaid programs are increasingly moving away from costly legacy systems to more cost-effective, flexible information technology solutions, like Edifecs Healthcare Accelerator Suite, that handle electronic and Web-based transactions, integrate with multiple agencies and quickly handle changes and controls to reduce operational and administrative costs. Built to meet the principles of the federal Medicaid Information Technology Architecture standards, Edifecs Healthcare Accelerator Suite helps states reduce administrative and operating costs; better manage and control enrollments and eligibility; and adhere to increasing policy standards and changing business rules."

The Edifecs Healthcare suite helps states tightly align their business missions with enabling technologies. It provides Medicaid agencies the ability to standardize electronic transactions, supply provider and member self-service capabilities and support new healthcare funding models.

Tim Skeen, Unisys Health Information Management CIO, said: "In selecting Edifecs Healthcare Accelerator Suite, we were looking for a single solution to create value for our customers by aligning their IT and business objectives. Our customers' business processes depend on the seamless and effortless exchange of healthcare electronic data for claims, enrollment, benefit eligibility and clinical information across a wide range of trading partners, information systems and technology standards in the healthcare ecosystem.
