CHICAGO, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- UniCare announced today a policy to make it easy for members affected by the wildfires in southern California to get the prescription drugs they need.
A one-time override for a 30-day supply of medication will be set up so that UniCare policyholders in the affected counties can continue their medication without interruption. This temporary policy will be in place for members living in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, San Diego and Santa Barbara Counties.
"We are very concerned for the people of California and saddened by the impact of these wildfires," said Dennis Casey, president and CEO of UniCare. "It's important that we adjust our pharmacy guidelines to help meet the health care needs of our members in the affected counties."
UniCare members affected by the wildfires should seek medical care at the nearest emergency facility. If a member has lost a prescription, he or she should have the medication filled at any UniCare network pharmacy. Members who utilize mail order service for prescription refills should contact Prescription Rx at 1-866-274-6826 and provide an alternate address if they have been displaced from their home.
For additional questions, members should contact a UniCare customer service advocate using the toll free number on the back of their UniCare ID card. Members who have lost their ID card should call 877-UNICARE for assistance.
