#AmericaWants To Write Love on Her Arms To Get A Full-Page Ad in USA TODAY

McLean, Va. and Cocoa, Fla. (PRWEB) April 21, 2010 -- USA TODAY, the nation’s top-selling print newspaper, announces the results of the #AmericaWants Twitter hashtag campaign for charity. With the most tweets of support, To Write Love on Her Arms will receive a full-page, full-color ad in USA TODAY, valued at $189,400.

To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for those struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. The movement exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. Since 2006, To Write Love on Her Arms has responded to more than 150,000 emails and messages from over 100 countries, in addition to giving more than $700,000 directly to treatment and recovery.

The #AmericaWants hashtag campaign for charity is an extension of USA TODAY's newly launched "What America Wants” brand campaign which highlights USA TODAY’s unique connection with the American experience and how our readers engage with products across all media platforms. The #AmericaWants twitter campaign ran from Tuesday, April 13, to Friday, April 16. People were encouraged to tweet “#AmericaWants (name of charity) to get a full-page ad in USA TODAY,” with the recipient of the most tweets receiving the final award. More than 60,000 tweets in support of more than 500 organizations were posted in four days, reaching more than 67 million followers on Twitter.

“The overwhelming response to our first Twitter campaign has been outstanding and we salute To Write Love on Her Arms for their tremendous effort. We were delighted by the number of charities who saw the value in a full-page ad in our newspaper and what it could do for their organization,” said Dave Hunke, preside
