PatientRM is one part of an integrated technology system US Oncology is implementing that includes the oncology-specific electronic health record system, iKnowMed. iKnowMed provides US Oncology network physicians with centralized access to comprehensive patient information. It also provides a platform for US Oncology's evidence-based medicine guidelines, Level I Pathways, physician-developed, pathways that assist physicians in reducing treatment variability and resulting costs. iKnowMed also gives physicians automatic alerts to warn of potential medication conflicts and can match patients to appropriate clinical trials. Ultimately, US Oncology will expand upon iKnowMed to offer a portal that will include social media activities such as blogs and discussion groups, and will provide an online community where patients can receive information on their care and treatment.
