UC Irvine Health Appoints William C. Wilson, MD, as Director of Critical Care Services

as an author and clinician-scientist teacher. In addition to authoring four major textbooks, Dr. Wilson has contributed to hundreds of chapters, and has reviewed articles and scientific papers specific to the medical field.

UC Irvine Critical Care Medicine is committed to achieving excellence in academic medicine, providing outstanding medical care, recruiting the brightest and most talented residents, and offering research opportunities in both basic science and clinical realms. With the addition of Dr. Wilson to our world-class faculty, we can continue to realize these goals.
The expertise and leadership of Dr. Wilson will be a valuable asset to our team, and with Dr. Wilson in his new role as hospital director of Critical Care Services and senior faculty at UC Irvine’s Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care, we can continue to provide world-class care to the people of Orange County and beyond.

The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care is one of the premier anesthesiology departments in the United States, which boasts an excellent residency program for training future doctors. The department is affiliated with the UC Irvine Health School of Medicine and provides anesthesia coverage at the UC Irvine Medical Center; the only university hospital serving Orange County. Established in 1967, the UC Irvine Health School of Medicine ranks in the top third of American medical schools in terms of research income per faculty member, and has achieved international recognition in fields such as neuroscience, medical imaging, cardiology, and genetics.
