U.S. Chamber Recognizes NutraCea for Strong Corporate Stewardship
Date:9/8/2008

PHOENIX, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NutraCea (OTC Bulletin Board: NTRZ), a world leader in stabilized rice bran research and technology, announced today the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center named NutraCea as a finalist for a Corporate Citizenship Award in the category of Corporate Stewardship, Small/Midsize Business.

"There are many strong candidates for the Corporate Stewardship Awards this year," said BCLC Executive Director Stephen Jordan. "NutraCea and all of the other finalists have shown that truly great businesses don't just focus on the bottom line today. They work for the future benefit of their customers, employees, communities and investors, as well."

NutraCea is a finalist due to a combination of factors that reflect its recent social contributions and economic performance.

"We are proud to be part of this esteemed group of companies recognized for their leadership at a time of a global awakening for those who are less fortunate. We each have a responsibility to improve their quality of life by providing the basic human necessities such as food, clothing, shelter and education. NutraCea was founded on a vision to help eradicate world hunger by converting the most underutilized agricultural resource, rice bran, into a food that could nourish millions of starving people. We are honored to be recognized for our progress toward that goal," said Margie Adelman, Senior Vice President of NutraCea.

The annual Corporate Stewardship Award is a prestigious honor that recognizes a company for strong financial success and a sustained contribution to community and social progress. Four additional companies are honored as finalists this year: Computer Systems Center Incorporated, Harris Corporation, INTEGRITYOne Partners and Quality Float Works, Inc.

A committee of prominent Americans, chaired by Harvard University professor Michael Porter, will select the 2008 Corporate Stewardship Award winner.
