U.S. Career Institute Launches 1st Ever DETC Accredited Medical Assistant Course

FORT COLLINS, Colo., Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Career Institute, a nationally accredited distance learning school, announced the rollout of the first ever DETC accredited Medical Assistant career training course. The Medical Assistant course is their 18th course to date, 6th in the medical field.

"The Medical Assistant course is a big step for obtaining our goal of becoming the premier career medical training school," said Ann Rohr, president of U.S. Career Institute. "Our mission is to provide a medical track for anyone who wants to get started in a career in the medical field."

The course is designed and administered by professional Medical Assistants with advanced degrees and valuable real world experience. Students are entirely taught through correspondence via internet, mail, e-mail and fax. Through the use of "Virtual Labs" students are introduced and familiarized with the clinical aspect of a Medical Assistant career. The course is designed to be self paced and can be completed in as little as 4 months.

"Medical career training through distance education has traditionally been limited to administrative functions. The creation of our ground breaking virtual labs really prepares the student for what to expect in a clinical environment. The labs bridge the integration of technology and Medical Assistant education, which has been difficult due to the hands on nature of the Medical Assistant profession," said Rohr.

The Medical Assistant career is in high demand with a projected growth rate of 36% or more through 2014 and an estimated 27,000 job openings per year since 2004. The demand is a direct result of assisting our aging population, according to the Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor and Statistics.
