Two Top Sleep Experts Team Up On New Pillow Collection
Date:3/15/2010

Luxury bedding manufacturer United Feather & Down and world-renowned sleep expert Dr. James Maas have partnered to develop a line of new bedding products.

(PRWEB) March 15, 2010 -- When top companies, organizations and the sleep-deprived need the latest research and tips on sleep, they look to “Power Sleep” author and Cornell University professor Dr. James Maas. And when retailers want the best sleep products for their customers, they turn to United Feather & Down. Now, these two advocates of the power of sleep have partnered on a line of pillows, powered by Dr. Maas’ sleep research and United Feather & Down’s expertise.

Having spent several decades researching, teaching and writing about sleep, Dr. Maas has personally witnessed how a high-quality pillow can contribute to a better night’s sleep. “The right pillow is essential to long-term health – it should give you comfort and automatically put you in a healthy sleep posture – and United Feather & Down’s pillows do just that,” said Dr. Maas. “Through the years, I’ve recommended United Feather & Down products, as they are heads above the rest in terms of support and construction.”

Dr. Maas has spent more than 40 years researching the relationship between sleep and performance, and has been working with United Feather & Down on an informal basis for the past 11 years. He’s served as a brand ambassador for the company, and several years ago looked to United Feather & Down to develop a toddler pillow to accompany his children’s sleep book “Remmy and the Brain Train.” Dr. Maas has authored numerous sleep studies as researcher and professor of Psychology at Cornell University, and is the author of New York Times best-seller “Power Sleep: The Revolutionary Program that Prepares Your Mind For Peak Performance,” a program that offers proven strategies on improving mental and physical well-being through sleep.

“Dr. Maas has been a friend of the company for many years, and we’re thrilled to now enter into a formal partnership,” said Bob Hickman, United Feather& Down Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “At United Feather & Down, we’re constantly striving to design newer, better products that contribute to a good night’s sleep – with the understanding that a better night’s sleep leads to better increased health and wellness. Dr. Maas not only shares this philosophy, but has seen the positive effects of sleep first-hand.”

The lines, called Power Sleep by Dr. Maas and Sleep for Success, includes pillows designed for stomach, back and side sleepers, a “Comfort Reader” pillow, and United Feather & Down’s proprietary Tri-Chamber, Single Chamber, and Pillow Top pillows. Dr. Maas is conducting pilot studies on sleep improvement with the new line, and preliminary results look very promising.

NY Home Fashions Market, March 9-11, 2010
Dr. Maas helped launch the partnership at a NY Home Fashions Week event by sharing “What You Should Know About Sleep…But Are Too Tired To Ask.” According to Dr. Maas, Americans are getting at least an hour less sleep than we should, and he offered tips, based on his research and best-selling book, on how to achieve optimal sleep and feel better in the process.
