ASHT to host two hand therapy meetings, June 23-26 in Orlando

Mount Laurel, NJ (PRWEB) April 22, 2010 -- The American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) is hosting two meetings for the hand therapy community over one weekend, June 23-26 at the Caribe Royale Orlando Hotel and Convention Center in Orlando.

ASHT will first hold its 33rd Annual Meeting on June 23. The meeting’s theme, “Best Practice in Hand Therapy,” will be demonstrated through various upper extremity sessions, including:

  • Applying evidence-based practice (EBP) to patient management;
  • Examining the role of clinical hand research;
  • Enhancing knowledge of hands-on orthotics in the treatment of stiff wrists;
  • Studying clinically-relevant anatomy of the shoulder and elbow; and
  • Understanding youth overhand sports injuries, and how these differ from those sustained by adults.

Following ASHT’s meeting, the International Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy (IFSHT) will gather for its 8th Triennial Congress from June 24 – 26. Learn more about the IFSHT Congress at www.hands2010.com.

“These back-to-back meetings provide a unique opportunity for hand therapists to network with peers from across the country and around the world,” said ASHT President Peggy Boineau, OTR, CHT. “ASHT is committed to advancing the science and practice of hand therapy, and both the Annual Meeting and IFSHT Congress will contribute to this mission.”
