WASHINGTON, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones announced that six new construction projects totaling $36,425,000 have been approved for the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The funding for the new construction was made possible by a $397 million increase over the President's request for VA minor construction under the final 2008 Appropriations bill signed into law in December.
"I am extremely pleased that we were able to secure funding for these projects," said Rep. Tubbs Jones. "The new VA employees and construction projects come as result of the historic VA funding increases passed by Congress last year. I can think of no better way to use this money than to help make improvements to the facilities that serve our servicemen and women who have given so much to this country."
Projects for the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center that received funding included:
-- Outpatient Care Addition, Phase 2 - $6,700,000
-- Pharmacy Expansion - $6,400,000
-- Radiology Phase 2 - PET/CT - $6,555,000
-- Lab and Warehouse Addition, Phase 2 - $6,940,000
-- Parking Garage Expansion - $3,275,000
-- Renovate Radiology, Phase 1 - $6,555,000
Cleveland received the most project funding of any city in the nation.
