Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Continues to Save Children's Lives Worldwide

NEW YORK, July 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- For the 59th consecutive year, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF will launch its time-honored Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign this fall. Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is one of the nation's longest running youth philanthropy programs, and is often a child's first experience with volunteerism in the United States. To date, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has received over $148 million dollars to help put an end to the unnecessary deaths of 25,000 children who die each day of preventable causes.

As an education and fundraising initiative, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF provides U.S. children, along with their parents and teachers, the opportunity to learn about their peers worldwide who are truly in need and to raise money on their behalf. The program will continue to teach young people the value of community service, educate them about global issues facing children in other parts of the world and empower them with the tools to be active global citizens making a difference in the world.

In addition to the traditional fundraising methods of Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF, supporters can host Halloween parties and participate in new technology-backed fundraising techniques including a mobile giving text-or treat for UNICEF effort. Resources for fundraisers and educators including downloadable lessons plans, activity sheets, fundraising ideas, e-card reminders, and additional materials can be found online at

Collection boxes are available online and at several retail locations, including Baskin Robbins, Pier 1 Imports and Hallmark Gold Crown stores. Boxes can also be ordered by phone at 1-800-FOR-KIDS. Donations can be made via credit card or check, or through over 12,000 participating Coinstar Centers, found in supermarkets, drug stores and mass merchants nationwide.

This is Hallmark Gold Crown's fourth year supporting the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign.
