TriWest Executive Advisory Board Marks Its Fifth Year
Date:11/15/2007

PHOENIX, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- In the intricate business of military health care, TriWest Healthcare Alliance sought direct input from its customers from its inception nearly 11 years ago with a set of locally-based customer advisory boards in key communities across its service area.

Five years ago, it added to that focus with the creation of a 15-member Executive Advisory Board (EAB) comprised of senior retired military officers, non-commissioned officers and military family members who provide guidance to TriWest leadership as the company delivers on the promise of the military's health care program, TRICARE, to provide the highest quality of care and customer service.

Current EAB Members:

-- Chairman RADM H. James T. Sears, M.D., USN (Ret.)

-- Co-Vice Chairman Maj Gen James 'Jerry' Sanders, M.D., USAF (Ret.)

-- Co-Vice Chairman LTG Ronald Blanck, D.O., USA (Ret.)

-- MG Nancy Adams, USA (Ret.)

-- Maj Gen George Anderson, M.D., USAF (Ret.)

Director

-- Maj Gen. James McMonagle, USMC (Ret.)

Association

-- RADM Richard 'Dick' Ridenour, M.D., USN (Ret.)

-- RADM Frederic Sanford, M.D., USN (Ret.)

-- SCPO Robert Washington, USN (Ret.)

"Wanting to stay close to what the customer needs, as well as receiving their input on ideas to improve our focus and delivery of service, meant developing platforms for a transparent dialogue with them. The EAB serves this purpose," said David McIntyre, TriWest's president and chief executive officer. "And, they have never disappointed us in bringing their valuable insight to our work on behalf of those we are honored and privileged to serve. They have added to our already strong focus on our customer and challenged us to be more effective in our work."

"In the customer service area, where the board members make their biggest contributions, they have been helpful in confirming moves that TriWest is in the process of making, such as our Web site, the automated telephone system, and engaging with our Board of Directors on key new projects and initiatives," said EAB Chairman, Dr. Jim Sears.

Under its charter, the EAB is responsible for:

-- Presenting TRICARE beneficiaries' views and issues to TriWest

-- Furthering EAB members understanding of TriWest's mission, vision,

values, strategic focus, organization and operation

-- Providing TriWest with input as requested into defined programs,

projects, issues and opportunities

-- Furthering TriWest's understanding of its external environment

-- Facilitating TriWest's ability to respond to environmental needs and

pressures

-- Providing guidance to TriWest's leadership in the fulfillment of its

responsibilities to its multiple customers as the TRICARE West Region

Managed Care Support Contractor

-- Working with TriWest for the betterment of the TRICARE program

"It is vital that TRICARE beneficiaries have a voice in the system and know about the benefits and services available to them, and I am pleased that TriWest is reaching out to seek the advice of various stakeholders in the Military Health System," said EAB member Mary Jo Myers.

"TriWest has worked closely with the EAB to deliver on their mission to provide the highest quality customer service and access to quality health care," said EAB member LTG Ronald Blanck USA (Ret.) "I feel privileged to serve among this core group of advisors that represent the needs an interests of millions of TRICARE beneficiaries."
