BISMARCK, N.D., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- TriWest Healthcare Alliance will present $15,000 to the Family Assistance Emergency Relief Fund, which will help support the needs of 4,300 North Dakota National Guard members and their families.
TriWest representatives Scott Celley, vice president of external affairs, and Don Brown, market vice president for the central market area, will present the check to Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, adjutant general of the North Dakota National Guard, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 in Memorial Hall of the state Capitol building in Bismarck. Gov. John Hoeven and Maj. Grant Wilz, director of the state's Family Program Office, will also attend.
"Contributing to the Emergency Relief Fund provides an avenue to help those who serve our country should they face extreme personal or financial challenges," Sprynczynatyk said. "When life deals a tough hand to a Soldier or Airman, the fund assists the service member and their family to help them through the especially difficult time."
"As members of civilian communities, National Guard families don't have convenient access to the support network available at military bases like Minot and Grand Forks Air Force Bases," said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. "TriWest made the contribution with the hope that we can help to bridge that gap for families of the North Dakota National Guard."
Since 2001, more than 75 percent of North Dakota's National Guard has been mobilized for active duty. Recently, about 700 members of the Guard received notice that they may deploy to Kosovo in 2009.
"TriWest continues to be a steady partner that recognizes the realities
of military service and its impact on our families," Hoeven said. "We are
