Treating Kids' Summertime Bumps, Bruises and Injuries with The Healthcare Scoop

In honor of National Youth Sports Week, parents asked to share their experiences and tips on keeping kids healthy and active this summer

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) July 20, 2009 -- On soccer fields and in backyards nationwide, active kids are tossing video games and television aside as they enjoy the summer sun. While the occasional bump or bruise is expected and normal, some injuries require medical attention.

In recognition of National Youth Sports Week, July 20-24, 2009, The Healthcare Scoop is calling on parents to share their experiences treating their children's outdoor- and sports-related injuries.

A parent in Edina, Minn. shared their experience with sports medicine on The Healthcare Scoop: "My 16-year-old son is a wrestler and had hip, shoulder and thumb pain about a month into the season. After seeing his regular doctor several times without improvement, I was able to get a same day appointment for him with Rochelle Taube, MD at Edina Sports Health & Wellness. … Dr. Taube was very thorough in her examination of my son and his injuries. She was able to determine the source of all of his pains, she made recommendations for how to address each of them, and most importantly, she was able to tell him that he could continue to wrestle without risking further damage.
