Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuit News: Bernstein Liebhard LLP Notes Upcoming Status Conferences in Federal Transvaginal Mesh Litigations

Transvaginal mesh lawsuits continue to move forward in the federal multidistrict litigations now underway in U.S. District Court, Southern District of West Virginia. According to court records, a joint Status Conference has been scheduled for March 21st at 10:00 a.m. in four federal transvaginal mesh litigations: In re: American Medical Systems, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation (“MDL No. 2325”); In re: Boston Scientific Corp., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation (“MDL No. 2326); In re: C.R. Bard, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation (“MDL No. 2187”); and In re: Ethicon, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation (“ MDL No. 2327”). Bernstein Liebhard LLP partner, Jeffrey S. Grand, is serving on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committees in all of these proceedings.

“We continue to hear from women who suffered serious complications following treatment with vaginal mesh. We are pleased to see these mesh lawsuits moving forward,” Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is currently representing hundreds of women in transvaginal mesh lawsuits who suffered mesh erosion, pain, scarring, infection and other serious injuries, allegedly due to products marketed by American Medical Systems, Inc., C.R. Bard, Inc., Ethicon, Inc. and Boston Scientific Corp.

Transvaginal Mesh Litigation
The litigation surrounding transvaginal mesh has been growing since 2011, when the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) warned that there had been a five-fold increase in reports of serious complications associated with the use of transvaginal mesh. The FDA also modified its previous position on the frequency of such complications, stating
