TrailBlazer Health Enterprises Names New President, Chief Operating Officer
Date:11/6/2008

DALLAS, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- TrailBlazer Health Enterprises, LLC, one of the nation's largest and most experienced Medicare contractors, announced today that Gil R. Glover has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of the company.

Based in Dallas, Texas, TrailBlazer Health Enterprises is a diversified government contractor, providing services to Medicare and other government programs. In 2007, TrailBlazer processed nearly 120 million Medicare claims and paid more than $20.5 billion in benefits.

Glover, a vice president at TrailBlazer since 1999, takes over leadership of the company from Martha P. "Marti" Mahaffey, who retired from TrailBlazer after serving as president since 2005.

"Gil has experience spanning nearly every aspect of Medicare contractor responsibilities," said William R. Horton, president of the Government Programs Division for TrailBlazer's parent company, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. "TrailBlazer became one of the nation's pre-eminent Medicare contractors under Marti Mahaffey's leadership, and we are indeed fortunate to have a superbly qualified leader like Gil to take the helm."

Glover has more than 35 years of management experience in the health care industry, including work in both Medicare and commercial operations for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas from 1967 until 1981, and again from 1984 until he joined TrailBlazer in 1999. He also managed programming and systems support functions for Chilton Corp. and for Methodist Hospitals of Dallas. Since 2000, Glover has served as TrailBlazer's vice president for program management operations, responsible for the company's claims processing and customer service in Medicare and other federal contracting roles.

"TrailBlazer employees strive every day to build upon our company's 42-year reputation of delivering excellence in program administration and customer service for the health care providers and Medicare beneficiaries we serve," Glover said. TrailBlazer's 1,100 employees work in the company's offices in Dallas, Denison and San Antonio, Texas.

TrailBlazer administers Medicare in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado and Virginia. The company also performs specialized Medicare program administration activities that serve health care providers and beneficiaries throughout the nation.

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
