Townsend Security today announced that it has appointed Joan Ross as Chief Executive Officer. Patrick Townsend, founder and previous Chief Executive Officer will assume the role as Chief Technology Officer.

Prior to joining Townsend Security, Ms. Ross was DocuSign’s Chief Security Officer, creating and evolving the organization’s security management strategy, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) program, and internal and external audit program. Under her tenure, DocuSign became certified and re-certified to national (PCI and SOC) and international (ISO 27001) standards with no exceptions, non-conformities, or significant findings. During her tenure, DocuSign more than doubled revenue year-after-year as part of leveraging security and certifications as a key differentiator.
Formerly, and in addition to presiding over her own security consulting companies, Joan served as Security Architect and Strategist for Microsoft’s Global Foundation Services Security and Compliance Division for online services and global data centers, Vice President of Information Security at Washington Mutual (now Chase), and Security Lead for the software development company WRQ, now Attachmate. In her more than twenty years of dedicated security experience, Joan works extensively to assist customers and partners to secure data while identifying, managing, and resolving risk through resilient, efficient, and affordably priced technology solutions. Joan holds numerous security certifications including the NSA IAM-IEM, CISSP-ISSAP, HISP, and FTK.
