Torrid's Model Search Winners, Celebrities Celebrate Fashion and Help Support the National Breast Cancer Foundation at the House of Dreams Event
Date:10/9/2009

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Torrid's 2009 House of Dreams Runway Event on September 24th was a smashing success for the retailer known as the destination for young women's plus-size fashion. Celebrity guests, industry tastemakers and Torrid fans packed the courtyard at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM)--home of this season's Project Runway--to celebrate fashion, honor people who work to motivate women and to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). With an opening performance by Brooke Hogan and a grand finale performance by up-and-coming singer and musician Priscilla Renea, it was an amazing, star-studded evening of fierce fashion and entertainment.

Chosen from thousands of entries, the seven gorgeous winners of Torrid's 2009 House of Dreams model search rocked the runway in cutting edge apparel and accessories by Torrid, and in couture gowns created by FIDM students. The gowns are available by auction on Torrid.com and all of the proceeds will go to the NBCF.

"We had an overwhelming response to this year's House of Dreams Model Search with thousands of entries and tens of thousands of votes," said Chris Daniel, President of Torrid. "We're very proud to have reached so many women and excited that influential women, such as Whitney Thompson and Brooke Hogan, could join us to celebrate the House of Dreams Fashion Event. It's inspiring to young women everywhere."

America's Next Top Model, Season 10 winner, Whitney Thompson, emceed the Torrid event and other celebrity attendees included the VH1 comedy duo Frangela; Dance Your Ass Off creator and judge Lisa Ann Walter; comedian Loni Love; American Idol contestant Nikki Mckibbin; and America's Got Talent contestant Mia Boostrom.

"When I won America's Next Top Model, I knew that I had to use my title for good and show young girls that beauty doesn't come in one size," said Whitney Thompson. "Working with Torrid and emceeing the House of Dreams Fashion Event lets me do just that. We're showing young women everywhere that fashion can truly be inspiring and make you feel fabulous."

Additional event sponsors included FIDM, e.l.f. Cosmetics, Paul Mitchell, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Source of Wisdom, TRIPP, Fleurish, Mighty Fine, Dollhouse, FashionClub.com and Shockhound.com.
