Top Sex Experts Heat Up The Big Easy
Date:6/4/2008

NEW YORK, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The sex-event of the decade comes to spicy, steamy New Orleans when the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) celebrates its 40th Birthday at the Sheraton New Orleans, June 25th-30th. Could there be any better place to throw a birthday bash and host an annual conference for the group that put "sex education" and "sex therapy" on the conversational map?

AASECT's conference theme, The Rhythm of our Roots: 40 Years of Sexuality Education and Health Celebrated Through Song, Story and Science, honors the history and future of sex, including AASECT's contribution as the premier credentialing and training organization for sexuality professionals worldwide. AASECT is also fast becoming the go-to resource for media seeking expert commentary for their stories. The conference promises to stimulate the media with fresh ideas for stories and interviews, just as it invigorates professionals in building knowledge and practice skills.

This year's conference offers the best in forward thinking approaches to current trends in sexuality education, therapy, and health. Presenters make up a veritable "who's who" in sexology including Beverly Whipple, Gina Ogden, Barry McCarthy, Michael Metz, Mitch Tepper, Ian Kerner, Lou Paget, Charles Moser, Ruth Morehouse, Susan Kellogg-Spadt, Esther Perel, Patti Britton, Paul Joannides, Leslie Schover, Betty Dodson, Cory Silverberg, and many more. Learning opportunities offer new perspectives on sexuality after cancer, sexual infidelity, the exploding intersection of tech and sex, sex education and the politics of shame, music & sexuality, sex & spirit, kinky sex ... and so much more. The conference wraps up with a powerhouse panel of pioneers -- Drs. June Reinisch, Betty Mooney, Mark Schwartz and Betty Dodson -- who take a look back at the colorful and controversial history of sex, helping us step into the future with renewed inspiration.

On the lighter side: a tribute to Candida Royalle, the first woman to make adult movies from a female viewpoint, with a retrospective of her films and a talk by the filmmaker, herself-plus, a masquerade ball featuring popular funk-blues band, Bonerama, a film festival, and plentiful opportunities to meet sexology's luminaries.
