ANN ARBOR, Mich., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Tomball Regional Medical Center has selected the Clinical Xpert suite of products (formerly MercuryMD MData) from the Healthcare business of Thomson Reuters (http://www.thomsonreuters.com/business_units/healthcare/) to be a key component of its continuing effort to improve clinical performance and patient safety.
Tomball, a 358-bed facility in Tomball, Texas, will use Clinical Xpert Navigator (http://clinical.thomsonhealthcare.com/products/cxnavigator/) to deliver real-time patient data to physicians via their BlackBerry(R) smartphones, Palm(R) and Windows Mobile(R)-based mobile devices, and desktop computers. This ensures doctors have access to critical patient information at any time and from any location, improving efficiency and clinical decision-making.
The medical center will use Clinical Xpert CareFocus(TM) (http://clinical.thomsonhealthcare.com/products/CXCareFocus/) to monitor its patient data and identify high-risk patients - based on their laboratory results, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, age, gender, and other factors. When patients meet the hospital's preset "high-risk" criteria - suggesting, for example, that they are suffering from congestive heart failure or a dangerous drug interaction - Navigator is used to notify their clinician via desktop or mobile device. Early identification of these patients can prevent complications, save lives and shorten hospital stays.
