Leelanau Peninsula’s largest wine tour event, Toast the Season, offers a local food and wine pairing at 22 participating wineries along the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail. The self-guided tour, held the first two weekends of November, is an annual tradition that has sold out for the past three years.
“Toast the Season is a very popular event and a really fun tradition each year,” shares Lucie Matthias, vintner of Chateau Fontaine of Lake Leelanau, “and it’s a great way to toast to another successful harvest.”
This year’s event is November 2&3 or November 9&10 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $50 per person or $75 per couple and are available online at http://www.lpwines.com/toast. Tickets are very limited and will likely sell out soon.
Participants will receive a commemorative wine glass, a holiday ornament and a gift bag featuring Leelanau products and more. This year's products come from Cherry Republic, Cherry Bay Orchards and the Redheads. At each of the participating wineries, attendees enjoy a special wine pour perfectly paired with gourmet food to bring out the dynamic palette of Leelanau wine. The cool climate wines are particularly food-friendly, providing a great complement to both sweet and savory dishes.

The Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association (LPVA) is a 501c3 founded in 1998 as a collaboration of regional winemakers. The LPVA consists of 25 winery members located in the Leelanau Peninsula AVA. The Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail is the state’s oldest and largest. The purpose of the association is to promote regional wines and wine destinations along the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail.
