Thomson Reuters Names QHR Management Client to 100 Top Hospitals List - Wooster Community Hospital Honored for Third Consecutive Year
Date:4/8/2010

Wooster Community Hospital, a QHR management client since 1994, was recently ranked among the top 100 hospitals in the United States in overall organizational performance by Thomson Reuters; the results of the healthcare company's 100 Top Hospitals® National Benchmarks Study were announced in the March 29 issue of Modern Healthcare.

Brentwood, Tenn. (PRWEB) April 8, 2010 -- Wooster Community Hospital, a QHR management client since 1994, was recently ranked among the top 100 hospitals in the United States in overall organizational performance by Thomson Reuters; the results of the healthcare company's 100 Top Hospitals® National Benchmarks Study were announced in the March 29 issue of Modern Healthcare. The study, which has been conducted annually since 1993, evaluates hospital performance in several areas: mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay, expenses, profitability, patient satisfaction and adherence to clinical standards of care.

"This year's study magnified the value that 100 Top Hospital® award winners provide their communities. Even during the economic downturn, the 100 Top Hospitals® maintained a profit from operations while raising the bar for clinical quality and patient satisfaction," said Jean Chenoweth, senior vice president for performance improvement and 100 Top Hospitals® programs at Thomson Reuters. "The insistence of these hospitals' leaders - their boards, executive teams and medical staffs - on overall excellence makes the difference."

"This is a prestigious national award, because it is not something you apply for. It is data driven and Thomson Reuters utilizes a broad set of comprehensive metrics," said Bill Sheron, CEO at Wooster Community Hospital. "Being named a 100 Top Hospital® validates the ongoing commitment and outstanding work of our employees and medical staff. It celebrates what we provide our patients and community each and every day.

"To have won this award for each of the last three years is a remarkable achievement," he added.

"Wooster Community Hospital continues to raise the bar for community hospitals of all sizes," said Quorum Health Resources (QHR) CEO James L. Horrar. "Under the leadership of CEO Bill Sheron and a very capable and committed board of governors, the hospital remains steadfast in its pursuit of clinical, operational and financial success. We're proud of their commitment to performance excellence, and we value our long-term relationship with Wooster."

QHR (Quorum Health Resources) has provided consulting, management and education resources to hospitals and health systems for three decades.
