Thomas L. Kelly Appointed Chief Executive Officer of HealthSmart

HealthSmart, the largest independent provider of managed care solutions for self-funded employers across the country, today announced that Thomas (Tom) L. Kelly has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Kelly, who brings more than 30 years of experience in healthcare administration and finance to HealthSmart, will become CEO effective August 4, 2014.

Kelly is currently Chief Executive Officer of Daraja Enterprises, a company that offers plan and insurance risk management services to medical groups and health systems. He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Schaller Anderson, an Aetna company. Prior to that, he was the Executive Vice President of DaVita, Inc.; Chief Executive Officer and President for Mercy Health Plans, Inc.; and Chief Executive Officer and President of Westport Healthcare Management Inc. He started his career at KPMG where he progressed through roles of increasing responsibility to become the National Director of Healthcare. Kelly earned a Masters of Science in Accounting from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Wesleyan University.
