The National 'got milk?'(R) Milk Mustache Campaign and Everyday Food Team

to Find the Ultimate Smoothie Recipe

WASHINGTON, May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- America, start your blenders -- the National "got milk?"(R) Milk Mustache Campaign and Everyday Food magazine are searching for the "ultimate" smoothie recipe in honor of June Dairy Month.

Whether it's a sweet treat, healthy breakfast or tasty afternoon snack, smoothie aficionados seeking a taste of fame are invited to share their favorite recipes for a chance to win $1,000 and have their creation featured in the Today's Special's section of Everyday Food magazine. To help select the winner, Sandy Gluck, food editor of Everyday Food, will lend her taste buds and expertise.

"A great recipe should not only taste good and look good, but also should be good for you, and Smoothies are a fun and delicious way to incorporate more milk into your diet and help get the recommended three glasses of lowfat or fat free milk a day," says Gluck.

Milk is packed with nine essential nutrients, including calcium and vitamin D. Plus, studies suggest the nutrients in three glasses a day of lowfat or fat free milk can help you maintain a healthy weight. And, the protein helps build muscle for a lean body. So, exercise, eat right and drink three glasses of lowfat or fat free milk a day to help you maintain a healthy weight.

Now to June 30, entrants can submit an original recipe along with a brief essay on how milk plays a part in their healthy lifestyle at http://www.whymilk.com. Entries will be judged on creativity, use of milk, appetite appeal and quality of essay. Five finalists also will receive gourmet blenders to perfect their recipes.

Visit whymilk.com for official rules and contest details, along with nutrition tips and recipes to stay healthy with milk. Also check out everydayfoodmag.com and 3aday.org for more inspiration.
