“Snow tubing is definitely a multi-generational sport – a sport that combines a modicum of skill with snow with fresh air, squeals, and laughter. It is pure fun in the snow, no apps needed,” says Nancy Nelson-Duac, co-founder and editor of the popular family vacation planning website.

Nelson-Duac attributes the growing popularity of snow tubing with the fact that parents and grandparents wish to share more active outdoor adventures with their kids. The obvious benefit she points out, “Snow tubing does not require lessons or practice to be fun. It’s really a ready- made day adventure and great for making memories.”

Some of the best snow tubing places in New England include Nashoba Valley's Snow Tubing Park and Amesbury Sports Park in Massachusetts; Smugglers' Notch in Vermont, Woodbury Ski Area in Connecticut, and Pine Meadows Snow Tubing Park at King Pine Ski Area in New Hampshire. In the Mid-Atlantic region and the Southeast the best tubing spots include Hawksnest Resort in North Carolina, Outback Park at Hidden Valley Resort in Pennsylvania, Southern West Virginia’s Winterplace and Snowshoe Mountain, as well as the Scream Machine at Wintergreen Resort in Virginia and Avalanche Alley at Stone Mountain in Georgia.
