Scientific evidence has found that approximately 25% of the overall variation in human lifespan can be attributed to genetic factors and the rest is influenced by external factors. These external factors are behaviors that an individual has the ability to control - where and how you live. Taking early steps in healthy living, will in turn help one to feel and look up to their best potential.

TheBeautyPlace.com expands on Martha Stewarts ten golden rules of successful aging. Rule number one is to eat well. Consuming Salmon, which is rich in vitamin D and protein, breeds healthy, strong hair. Rule two is to maintain a healthy weight. One should not eat less than 1200 calories or exceed 1800 calories per day. The physical consequences of eating a healthy diet are apparent in having more energy, healthier heart, lowering the risk of Type II diabetes, and helping to evade both osteoarthritis and numerous forms of cancer. Rule # 3 involves staying physically active daily or at least 3 times a week. The American College of Sports and Medicine suggests exercising 3 to 5 times per week for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Exercising increases endorphins known as "happy feeling" transmitters.

Rule # 4 is to get at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night. Studies have found that people who sleep for fewer than six hours a night have a higher risk of dying earlier than people of a comparable age who sleep for seven or eight hours a night. In addition, sleep makes people more attractive. A study photographed 23 people after a period of sleep deprivation and after a normal night's sleep of eight hours. The photos were presented to 65 people who rated them on health attractiveness and tiredness. The sleep deprived group scored lower in all three categories. Night creams like
